Counterpane’s 32nd Annual Clown Caper Children’s Carnival is on Saturday, May 12, from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. at 839 Hwy 314 in Fayetteville. This is an old-fashioned children’s carnival that provides fun for children up to 10 years of age, including educational opportunities for toddlers with our Souns for literacy program . Activities include old-fashioned carnival games, a wholesome grill picnic, horseback rides, cakewalk, petting zoo, and shearing of Buttons, the sheep. This annual spring event is perfect for families with young children.
Counterpane is a non-profit Montessori environment for preschool through high school students that is dedicated to all children locally and globally through its Souns program. This outreach program is building literacy around the globe including impoverished areas of South Africa, the Southwest Georgia Head Start Program, Georgia’s Even Start program, Babies Can’t Wait Early Intervention program in Fayette and Coweta counties, Georgia public libraries, and the International Rescue Committee in Atlanta. Much of this work is due to the generous support of Rotary International and the Rotary Club of Peachtree City. Souns is a phonics-based program that teaches the fundamental skills of reading and writing. Counterpane students, their families, and the staff are affecting change by introducing letter-sound knowledge in a hands-on, informal and logical way. Souns is making a difference one child and one community at a time, empowering parents, teachers, and most especially, infants and toddlers with the tools of print.
Bring your little ones to Clown Caper, visit Counterpane, learn about Souns for literacy, and celebrate the day with fun, games, and balloons.
These are little legs of Counterpane’s past. Clown Caper is a magical memory for every Counterpane kid and a great friend raiser .
